In brief, you should know the following about Team Austin: We started our team to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and how it affects the children and their families. Most families that have children with CF, have some sort of benefit to fund research for Cystic Fibrosis. We hold an increasingly successful snowmobile ride every year to benefit the CF Foundation.
What is Cystic Fibrosis? *CF is a life-threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of tens of thousands of young people. *One in 31 Americans (more than 10 million people) have an unknowing, symptomless “carrier” of the defective CF gene. *Each time two carriers conceive, there is a 25 percent chance that they will have a child with CF. *CF patients must endure chest therapy twice a day, take countless medications and are often hospitalized with life threatening lung infections.
